Womens boxing, and the training is excellent for fitness and weightloss.

When I first heard of this here in Pattaya I gotta say I thought Oh Oh, but after I watched the first couple of rounds I thought yeah, these female fighters are good to watch. The skill and determination involved is 100% not to mention the training these women put in.

The vast majority of women here though are not professional female fighters or indeed boxers as such. They come here for the training, just as the vast majority of guys do.

After having said that though the guys tend to want to learn more technical stuff, whereas the women are more focused on the fitness training for the weight loss and body tone.

One of the most popular weight loss programmes for women at this time is boxing and I dont mean sparring with female fighters, its the training that is so good for real fitness and fast weight loss.

The training is hard and can be tough on the body, its also exhausting. In a proper womens boxing workout you will work pretty much every muscle in your body, and you will be aching from top to bottom, but after a week or so you`ll feel great. You will also notice some physical changes like losing weight be more toned and stronger.

One concern you may have is that the gym will be full of men, who may not want you there. Well many Muay Thai camps and clubs cater for women only classes.

The main reason boxing training is so good is that excess weight seems to just melt away faster than you may have thought possible. As I said earlier womens boxing training is a total body workout and is a combination of high impact and cardio training. So you will see fast weight loss and muscle tone which also helps in the weight loss.

It is extremely important that you start your training with an instructor, as you will need to learn how to punch a bag correctly. If you dont punch correctly you may do serious and possibly permanent damage to your joints. And do not train without at least handwraps, which are wrapped tightly around your wrist, hand and fingers. They are not there to prevent cuts or grazing, but to keep your knuckles and joints tightly together.

Typical womens boxing workout

The workout should last for about 25 to 35 minutes, starting with a light warm up, some stretching excercises and then on to a workout with a heavy bag.

Try to go as hard as you can for 3 minutes using a variety of moves (your instructor at the muay thai camp shall teach you the various punches.) After each 3 minute period do not rest for longer than 30 seconds before starting again. Most people cannot do this for 25 minutes, if you do stop, and like me you probably will! try to do some very light skipping which keeps all the correct muscles going and your heart rate up.

A muay thai camp here in Pattaya will also teach women self defence, which in itself is a great activity holiday in Thailand.
