Pattaya weather,High season or Low.When is Best?
When is the best time to come... I have been asked about Pattaya weather many times Well Pattaya itself has two seasons, high season and low season. And thats all you need to know about the seasons regarding weather Unless you plan on coming to Thailand and buying a rice paddi like the one pictured below.
Before I talk a little about low and high seasons, a quick tip about clothing for your journey. it might be obvious but I never cease to be amazed by what some individuals are wearing for the trip ie, its gonna be hot when you get here! If like myself you are leaving your home country in say November or December, then chances are its gonna be cold,wet,windy and generally miserable. (Probably like a lot of the people living there!) I can only speak for myself here but you could be arriving at the airport by taxi the same, in other words the airport trip does not involve a 10k route march where you could be suffering hyperthermia! if you are clothed relativeley lightly Dont know, or not sure of where to stay. Now I,m not suggesting you travel in a pair of Bermuda shorts,together with a loud shirt and not forgetting the shoes with regulation black socks..Only joking on that last part. (But if you do wear shorts,shoes with black socks..Why? answers on a postcard please) My attire for travelling consists of shoes/trainers a pair of jeans,T-shirt,shirt and a very light jacket or a sweater.Once on the aircraft off comes the jacket or sweater and usually the shirt too,this all easily goes into my hand luggage,I,m now clothed suitably for arrival A-La-Bangkok and the glorious pattaya weather. And I dont have a bulky ski type insulated thermal type whatever jacket complete with matching scarf to man handle
Anyway on to the weather in pattaya. High season is December to April,its mainly hot but can get surprisingly cool in the evenings during late December. Its quite amusing to see the bar girls wearing coats and hats, when you are in the regulation shorts and T-shirt. The hotels in pattaya tend to be very busy, as are the beer bars. Something to bear in mind if you are thinking of coming without having a room booked. It is wise to book somewhere if only for a couple of nights until you find somewhere else. If you like the place then extending your stay is usually easy.
I once arrived near to christmas without having booked, as I was confident I would find somewhere...Yep I found somewhere alright...The worst room I have had the pleasure of staying in, and for two nights, while a room came vacant at one of my usual haunts. Low season is May to November pattaya weather is very hot and sometimes wet. I use the term sometimes wet loosely... During the height of the rainy season it can be very wet, to the point of regular flooding of the streets. But thats another story. More and more tourists and especially single guys are coming to stay during this period, for the simple reason its quieter, pattaya hotels often reduce rates, airline tickets to thailand are also less expensive. All in all, and it is just my opinion, I think it is a good time to come, especially if its your first visit.
