A great Pattaya bar.. the PURPLE bar
I did say on the Bars page I would not recommend a Pattaya bar, and the reason being that the places I like may not be the kind of place that you like. In this case however this place is just a regular kind of bar where you can just go for a beer or seven. Its not an in your face go go bar or a Short time bar etc, after having said that there are some very pretty young Thai girls that work there.
Why do I like the purple bar! I know value for money when I see it, you can buy a bottle of beer for 40Bt and the lady drinks are no way extortionate at just 100Bt. You can pay the same in some dirty little hovel full of old has beens, but the Purple bar is spotlessly clean and very well run.
The Purple bar is also well stocked with all manner of drinks (don't get carried away on the sambooka as I did one time, what a good time eh, JB!!). It also has two TV screens, the larger of the two is generally devoted to various sports. There is also an excellent sound system.
The Pattaya girls that work there are great and no way aggressive in their approach. Once the bar girls understand you are there for just a few beers either on your own or with some friends, they will look after you very well indeed, and if you need anything you just have to ask. So please remember to give em, a tip when you leave.
Another reason for liking this beer bar is that its so central to all the nightlife in Pattaya. The Purple bar is an excellent meeting point and a great location to start off from. It is located in Pattaya new plaza, the easiest way to find it is from 2nd Road. If you stand at the top of Soi 8 where it meets 2nd Road its virtually opposite. And the purple bar is about 100 meter's on the left hand side. See pictures below.

Why is it so well run? I believe its down to the young Thai lady that owns the place. Her name is Lek, and if you do visit the purple bar don't be afraid to introduce yourself. Besides being one of the most beautiful Thai girls I have ever met she speaks excellent English and really does know how to run a Pattaya bar. And this is proved by the many different nationalities that frequent the Purple bar.
