Ladyboys in Pattaya can be truly fascinating, especially if you have never been to Pattaya and seen one of these individuals. Some of them are so attractive its hard to believe they are male. Many an unsuspecting Pattaya tourist has indeed taken a lady boy back to his room.. No doubt resulting in a major surprise.. and sometimes maybe, what the hell the neighbors back home will never find out!!

Personally I do not have a problem with ladyboys or Katoey to give them their correct name. If I was to have a major party I would certainly be having a few ladyboys on the guest list, reason being they are quite literally the life and soul of the party. But don't get me wrong here, they are not to be ridiculed or generally made fun of, they do however love to party. And after all, this is Pattaya funtown!

Ladyboys in Pattaya How to deal with them!! If you have never been here before don't be thinking that ladyboys are only a part of the Gay Pattaya scene. You will see them everywhere the most obvious ones anyway. Many of the bars in Pattaya employ ladyboys, gotta cater for all tastes I suppose. Speaking of beer bars, If you are getting acquainted with a bar girl and for whatever reason you may become a little suspicious, ask the question (don't be shy) "you laydee?" If its a reputable bar you should get a straight answer.

If you get the answer "me boy" and I'm presuming here you want a female of the 100% variety, what you need to do is stay pleasant and friendly, say something to the effect of "you very sexy but I look for laydee." Whatever you do, do not start to throw insults and abuse or become threatening, believe me things will soon escalate into unpleasantness. You never know, if you go about it the right way the ladyboy may even introduce you to a stunning female friend.

Walking street Pattaya Is a very popular place for ladyboys to frequent, you will see them strutting up and down the street. These will be freelancers who are not employed by one of the beer bars or go go bars. If you are approached by one of these ladyboys, remember you need to stay pleasant and not to mention complimentary, believe me a polite refusal goes a long way. There are also a few Beer bars on walking street which employ mainly lady boys.

A word of caution. You may have noticed that in most situations I have emphasised being pleasant with polite refusals and being complimentary etc, etc, this is for good reason. Ladyboys in Pattaya are often much more forward in their approach towards potential punters. And most of them are essentially men that look like women, (although there are various stages of gender realignment) what I,m trying to say is if you do insult one of them, that ladyboy is not averse to resorting to violence, both verbal and physical. Definately not recommended.

A further word of caution. If you are approached by a lady boy on walking street, beach road or anywhere else for that matter, and you do want to have a "private moment" you must be extremely cautious. The lady boy may suggest walking down a small dark soi (street) off walking street or down onto the beach. Unfortunately many a Pattaya tourist has been robbed and assaulted this way. I recommend going back to your own room.

So.. How do you recognise one of these ladyboys in Pattaya? Occasionally it can be very difficult, and I dont care what anyone says thats the truth. I have been frequenting beer bars in Pattaya for almost 6 years, and quite recently a friend introduced me to a bar girl who I was chatting with for quite a while, very pleasant and very attractive, I even bought her a drink, which is now a rare thing for me to do! After a while longer my friend advised me "she" was a lady boy!! Believe me some of these lady boys can be very convincing indeed. However there are tell tale signs

How to spot a lady boy

The first thing you will probably notice is how tall most Thai girls are quite small in stature... General physical appearance, many Thai girls are reasonably athletically built, however if she has shoulders like a championship boxer, there could be a good dose of testosterone in the bloodstream! Check out the hands and feet are they a bit on the large side? Breasts! do they look natural or more like silicone valley! Many ladyboys also display exaggerated feminine gestures, particularly flicking their hair etc, and tend to walk with a certain strut.

The adams apple on the throat is a dead giveaway, as only men have these. However there is a surgical operation which removes this! Mmm, another giveaway is the voice, a ladyboy will have a deeper voice than a bar girl, However if the ladyboy is on hormone treatment then even this is not 100%. If you are with a bar girl and you are still a bit suspicious there is one sure way, And no I don't mean having a feel between the legs, which again is not 100% as there is a procedure for removing the tackle, and it could also get you into serious trouble. What you need to do, diplomatically though, is take hold of her arm and see how far it will bend, females are more flexible than males and if her arm goes past straight and into an arch, you can be pretty sure she's female.

Ladyboys in Pattaya and where to meet them

If you do want to meet some lady boys then here are a few places that are popular.

Beach road Taking a walk along this stretch you will meet many lady boys both during the day and evening. Early evening is probably the best time and the safest. The later it gets, especially into the early hours of the morning, the more unsafe it becomes.

Star dust Is a popular bar area which surrounds a stage and it has an entertaining ladyboy show. You will find this place at the northern end of 2nd Road.

Pattaya Soi 6 is probably the most popular and notorious street in the city. It is mainly short time bars and many of them employ lady boys. I have spoken to ladyboys sitting outside a bar at 6am on this street. If you want to be more discreet take a walk down soi 6/1 it is a narrow street that runs parallel to Soi 6 and there are far fewer pattaya tourists along here, and I can virtually guarantee you will be propositioned a number of times, as I have been! Because they know its a more discreet place to meet ladyboys.

Walking street can at times be wall to wall with lady boys, to say its a popular location with them is an understatement. You can meet them on the street who are likely to be freelancers. There is also many bars along here that have lots of ladyboys.
