Beer bars great places,great girls,great nights and cheap beer!Beer bars are without doubt the most popular type of bars in pattaya, they are everywhere. They are open air type bars that run along all the streets and roads. New ones are springing up like there's no tomorrow, old ones are modernised and there never seems to be a shortage of some enterprising "falang" willing to plough his hard earned into.
Some bars are individual premises on a street corner say, or in an apartment block or something.There are also the large open air bars like the ones above. These are all under one roof and in the high season are often wall to wall with Pattaya girls and tourists. In some of these bar complexes there could even be a boxing ring with Muay Thai bouts at regular intervals judge for yourself how authentic they are somewhere in the vicinity there shall be a toilet, and you will need 10Bt to use these facilities,so make sure you always have change with you, they also charge extra for tissue paper!
When I last made enquiries as to the official closing times of a pattaya bar it was a little unclear not surprising for pattaya anyway the time that was agreed upon was midnight... Midnight! Yep, but dont worry the bars are usually open as long as there is a customer drinking. Fear not you will find a drinking place 24/7. Also during certain religous days bars can open, but not sell alcohol, so you may find yourself drinking out of a large coffee mug with all bottles out of sight. Some beer bars have live entertainment,some even have cabaret shows or karaoke and not to mention music of all types. You will soon learn which classic tracks the Thais think we all love, as they often play them and sing them to death! All this music and entertainment is good news, however in a complex with say 30 different bars and all the beer bars have mega watt sound systems competing you can imagine the noise,, take ear plugs
One of the downsides of the open air bars are the hawkers selling all types of trinkets from maps and paintings,clothing to jewelry and all types of watches even offering shoe cleaning. You name it they,ll try and sell it, some of these hawkers are young children and are especially annoying. The best way is to pleasantly say no. Allthough after a while its difficult to be polite especially in a city where manners are not common! If one NO does not work just say NO NO NO NO NO NO! that usually does the trick.
Lady drinks? Whats a lady drink.. OK your in a bar talking to yet another one of the Pattaya girls and lets say its your first time here and you decide to buy a bar girl a drink no "pompem" but beware some of these drinks can be very expensive. If your the type who likes to buy girls a drink again no "pompem" but keep a check on those receipts. If your having a one man party with two or three pattaya girls don't be surprised if there friends receipts go in your "bin" usually when you pay a visit to the toilet. I've seen it happen many times OK I said on the pattaya bars page I would not recommend any beer bars, but as for value for money and cheap beer I will mention one location which is pattaya new plaza. There are many beer bars along here where you can buy a beer for as little as 40Bt It runs between 2nd road and soi buakhow about 200 meters before central road. Its a great location..
