Yes, a bar fine applies to all bars... Or does it!

I,m going to assume here that you have never been to Pattaya so I'll explain about the bar fine as simply as I can. But its not difficult to grasp. What I'm not going to do is explain why, not fully anyway, the reasons why are more to do with running a beer bar or one of the Pattaya go go bars, and you just want to have a good time, yeah.

Pattaya bar girls

Most and I say most, not all, of the bar girls will be available for shall we say "escort services" away from the bar for which you have to pay a fee. If one of the bar girls does come and sit with you chances are she's available. However and I'm still amazed at this fact, If the guy doesn't like her or immediately find her attractive,, within a short period of time... He does, mainly this is down to a feeling of guilt, she's spent a little time and effort to get your attention, wouldn't you feel rude just moving on to another girl! Most Pattaya bar girls are well aware of your feelings of guilt etc; My friends and I call it going for the sympathy fuck! Remember.. Its business, and you have to "pay bar". If you don't like her for whatever reason don't be afraid to get the attention of one you do, just remember to be polite about it, maybe give her a tip, but put the tip in her hand not on the tray. That way she gets to keep it for herself and is better than buying her a drink. Even move to one of the other Beer bars if you have to. Remember its business, why pay for the company of someone you don't really like!

How much?

A number of things here effect the amount of the fee, if you're in a flea infested mosquito ridden shit pit full of old timers. Then the bar fee is gonna be considerably less than one of the many air conditioned luxurious Pattaya go go bars full of shall we say "stunners" of which there are plenty! So how much? I would say for most of the beer bars in Pattaya with a good selection of bar girls the average is about 300Bt, there are beer bars with bar fees of just 200Bt, you pays your money you takes your chances. But believe me there are "bargains" to be had.

Pattaya go go bars

The bar fine in these places (commonly referred to as ogling dens) range from the perfectly acceptable to absolutely extortionate! I know many Pattaya go go bars that have fees of 500Bt and some well over a 1000bt. Remember if its your first visit the girls can tell, just by how you ask for your drinks for instance, so they might try it on regarding bar fines and fees, not to mention drinks. Everything is negotiable.

What! no bar fine!

Yes it is possible in more ways than one. The bar fine in the early evening is a definite and also the most expensive. So if a beer bar has a very low bar fine with nice bar girls, they all get taken early.. Result, no bar girls = no customers. So at the end of the evening or rather I should say in the early morning the bar fine can be reduced. Not only that, you could possibly arrange to meet the bar girl after the bar closes... If she no have customer!(take care on that one though) There are also many freelance girls that are in many bars, walking street and not forgetting Pattaya beach girls, none of which having a bar fine.

So how do you go about paying the bar fine then? Lets assume you have met a bar girl and "chatted" for a while and you like her and would like to go elsewhere. Simply ask "pay bar...How much" she,s much more likely to understand this better than if you were to ask "how much is the bar fine" etc, when you're here try it! If the figure comes back as acceptable just say OK "I pay bar you" she'll definitely understand that. You shall then receive a receipt placed in your bin as for your drinks. When you are ready to go, check bin and leave. Don't be surprised if she is maybe a little reluctant to leave especially if its quite early. Remember its business, she may want you to buy a few more drinks both for her and yourself. When you do leave and you want to have another drink or two, or even go for a meal, she may suggest somewhere, there's a good chance it will be where a friend of hers works. Guess what, you could be buying more drinks at inflated prices. So try to find somewhere you like. Also don't be too surprised if her personality changes, no! not jekyll & Hyde, but she may be a lot quieter, now she hasn't got her friends behind her etc,

Do not confuse paying the bar fine with having to pay for the bar girls "services". This is an entirely different matter, ideally you should negotiate or at least ask the question before you leave or even offer to "pay bar". If you are planning on an all night "long time" activity, the going rate in Pattaya is 1000Bt

Suppose you like the girl! And you would like her company for a few days. Yep, you have to pay the bar fine on a daily basis. And don't be surprised if she is quite persuasive on you going along to the bar, you guessed it! She will no doubt want a drink when she gets there. Remember! Its business. OK you really like the girl, with most bar owners its possible to negotiate a deal so you can stay with her for as long as you would like. That way you can go on your travels around Thailand or wherever.
